Celebrant Training - Become a Marriage Celebrant - CHCMCEL401A
Dual Certificate IV Program (2 Qualifications - CHC41502/BSB40401)

If you are looking at becoming a Marriage Celebrant, then you may enrol in our 'Become a Celebrant course' by distance education for only $430, integrated for $595 or in a class for $880. If you are looking to further your career, or become an expert celebrant and develop a successful celebrancy practice - then the below Dual Certificate IV Program is for you.

The Academy of Celebrancy Australia® is proud to present a new comprehensive course consisting of 2 entire Certificate IV Qualifications. These include Certificate IV in Marriage Celebrancy (CHC41502) and Certificate IV in Small Business Management (BSB40401). Combined, these qualifications consist of 12 Nationally Recognised units and give you the credibility and knowledge to become an expert celebrant, and develop and grow your unique celebrant business. They will also help you differentiate yourself from other celebrants in the marketplace. The course has been entirely written for celebrants - by celebrants. Even the business components are written specifically for your celebrant business, therefore you not only get great business knowledge, but it is targeted to your industry. The course also goes much deeper into ceremony and ritual and gives you the knowledge to take your celebrancy career to a new level. Covered by the Academy's Best Price Guarantee, students will be able to implement business practices that help drive their celebrant business to soaring success.

In recent years there has been a dramatic increase in the celebrancy industry with now over 60% of ceremonies within Australia being delivered by a non-secular representative.  The other representatives who are also able to conduct weddings include; clergy, registry offices and celebrants appointed in court houses.  The numbers of marriages prepared and delivered each year are around 112,000.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics:
  • In 2005, marriages performed by civil celebrants again outnumbered marriages performed by ministers of religion. This trend commenced in 1999 when 51% of all marriages were performed by civil celebrants. By 2005, this proportion had increased to 60%. In comparison, in 1985 only 40% of marriages were performed by civil celebrants.

  • Couples who cohabit before marrying are more likely to marry in a civil ceremony (67%) than those who do not (33%) and account for 85% of civil ceremonies.

  • In 2005, the highest proportion of civil marriages was in the NT (74%). The NT has had the highest proportion of civil marriages for the past twenty years. NSW had the lowest proportion of civil marriages (55%), whilst SA experienced the largest increase in civil marriages from 55% in 2004 to 59% in 2005.

  • Around 30% of Australia’s economic activity is generated by the small business sector.

  • Small businesses are responsible for generating 3.3 million jobs, or 47% of private sector, non-agricultural employment.

  • There are over 1.2 million small businesses, which represents over 96% of all business.

  • Approximately 35% of small businesses operate in regional Australia.

  • The number of women operating home based small businesses grew by 17% between November 1999 and June 2001, compared to 13% for male home based businesses.

  • Approximately 80% of small businesses are now connected to the Internet.

  • Around 30% of small business operators were born overseas.
